The park therefore fully deserves a place in our blog. Let’s leave the floor to its founder and director, Pierangelo Cadoni!

Pierangelo, tell us about the origins of Sardinia in Miniature Park. What inspired you when you first conceived it?

First of all thank you for your kind words, although, as you can imagine, the journey was not nearly as straightforward as it may seem today… In fact, I would say that we followed a sort of reverse path, in the sense that what was initially conceived as a “secondary attraction” eventually became the main one. Let me explain better: when we were planning the construction of an accommodation facility in the countryside between Tuili and Barumini, we asked ourselves what could motivate visitors to choose our destination.

At first, we thought that reconstructing the Nuragic village of Barumini could be an attractive feature. But then we thought: if one Nuraghe can work, why not create many of them? From there, the idea evolved into reproducing the whole of Sardinia, eventually replacing the original hospitality project.

What experiences and attractions does the park offer, and how is it structured?

Since 1999, the year it opened, the park has gone through many phases — some exhilarating, others filled with concern and challenges. Today, 27 years later, the park has become a solid landmark in Sardinia, welcoming around 50,000 visitors every year who continue to place their trust in us.

That same enthusiasm which brought us this far continues to inspire the design and management of ever-new attractions and thematic areas. These range from astronomy, with our museum and planetarium, to biology, with our tropical rainforest exhibition and its large aquariums, to the Jurassic exhibition featuring our animatronic dinosaur park — the largest in Italy — with life-sized models, including the gigantic Argentinosaurus measuring an impressive 35 meters in length.

The experience is completed by an aviary with parrots, a greenhouse dedicated to succulent plants, the life-sized reconstruction of parts of the Nuragic village of Barumini, and of course the iconic miniature reproduction of Sardinia itself, where scaled monuments offer a fascinating architectural snapshot of our island.

Finally, visitors can enjoy both a fully electric train and a fully electric boat ride, allowing them to explore the park from a completely different perspective.

Who is the park designed for?

The park truly caters to everyone. The experiences we offer are engaging for both adults and children, and it is always a pleasure to witness the surprise on our visitors’ faces when they discover the variety of themes and the level of organization they were not expecting.

A major role in this experience is played by our guided tours, which have become an essential part of the visit. Thanks to our outstanding guides, visitors are transported on a timeless journey through galaxies, geological eras, and botanical worlds, creating an ever-changing and stimulating mix of discoveries.

Have you introduced elements of innovation and environmental sustainability?

Absolutely, yes! Starting this year, we have become fully energy autonomous, meaning we are now able to produce the entire energy supply required by Sardinia in Miniature Park. This achievement allowed us to replace both the train and the boat with fully electric systems.

Another important innovation was the inauguration of a renewable energy laboratory, developed through a digital program specifically created for our park by a leading company in the sector. The same company had previously collaborated with us on the development of an augmented reality dinosaur app available for both iOS and Android smartphones.

At what stage is the entrepreneurial development of Sardinia in Miniature today? And what are the next steps?

Sardinia in Miniature is constantly evolving. Many projects have already been completed, while others are currently in development for the coming years, including the expansion of existing exhibitions and the creation of new complementary attractions that visitors will soon be able to experience.

How important is the internationalization of your content into other languages, and what qualities should it have?

The number of foreign tourists is growing rapidly, and this makes it essential to provide brochures and information in multiple languages capable of conveying the right message in the right way.

Offering a brochure in the visitor’s native language is not just about information: it is a genuine hospitality service. It is immediately perceived as attention and care toward the customer, and for this reason it is highly appreciated.

You absolutely hit the right point there! Do you have a funny anecdote to share about your experience with the park?

As I mentioned earlier, the name “Sardinia in Miniature” actually encompasses a wide variety of experiences and themes within a lush eight-hectare green setting.

Because of this, it is always amusing to welcome and observe visitors who have never been to the park before and discover — often with genuine surprise — that Sardinia in Miniature is not some kind of indoor miniature display or nativity-style attraction, but rather a thriving thematic park where families can spend an entire day immersed in nature and in harmony with the surrounding environment.

Thank you very much, Pierangelo!

An article by Federico Perotto, InnovaLang Srl

[11
113,263,261,262
post-4442","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-blog-en","tag-innovalang-en","tag-multilingualtranslation","tag-sardinia","tag-sardiniainminiature
